Why EA Manager is its own stream

Managing a team of EAs is a different job.

The individual EA assessment tests one EA against one principal, and it is the right tool when you are hiring a single desk. Once you run a team of EAs, or are scaling up to one, the question shifts. It is no longer just "can this EA do the job"; it becomes, how will this EA operate inside a team? Will they hold the standards the team already runs? Who is the EA Manager Edition actually for?

It is a tool for anyone running multiple EAs: most often an EA Manager, sometimes a founder, COO, or chief of staff with several EAs reporting in. You commission the assessment. An individual EA sits it: either a candidate you're considering hiring into your team, or an incumbent you want to benchmark. You get back a expert-reviewed report that tells you how that EA will operate inside your team.

Who actually sits the assessment?

An individual EA. The decision-maker: the person running multiple EAs: is the one commissioning the assessment, but the candidate sitting the 70- or 85-minute session is the EA they want to hire, benchmark, or develop. The report comes back to the commissioner.

How is this different from the individual EA assessment?

The individual EA assessment (Stream 1) tests one EA against one principal: the right tool when you're hiring a single desk. The EA Manager Edition tests the same EA, but inside scenarios set in a multi-EA team context: shared inbox, handoffs, peer-level standards, upward translation through a team lead. Same rigour. Different shape, matched to the context the EA will actually be working in.

Who writes and reviews the reports?

The EA Manager Edition was built specifically because Lily Shippen has spent more than a decade placing EA Managers and Heads of EA into roles running multi-EA teams, while Emily Partridge has sat in the seat itself: as a former EA Team Manager responsible for 60 EAs globally.
